Daytime Emmy Nominations Announced

The Daytime Emmy Awards nominations were announced this morning in New York City. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 30th and broadcast on the CW. Ugly Betty Actress, Vanessa Williams will be the host. The full list of nominations will be announced later this evening at a party hosted by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Daytime Emmy Awards to Air In August

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has officially announced that the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be broadcast on the CW television network on Sunday, August 30 at 8 p.m. The show will take place in the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. "The Daytime Emmy Awards are one of the cornerstones of our business," said Frank Radice, president and chief marketing officer, NATAS. "There wouldn't be a television awards season without them. From the extravagant red carpet to the great entertainment, the viewer will experience the show through new approaches which will make this year's show more robust and relevant than ever before."

Major nominations will be announced on May 14, 2009 on NBC's TODAY show with Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. The complete list will be available that evening at a nominating event at the Hearst Tower.

Daytime Emmy Pre-Noms Announced

The Daytime Emmy Awards Acting Pre-nominations were announced. There are still no details on the location, date or network host for the awards show. Nominations are expected to be announced in April with the televised (hopefully) ceremony in June.

In a statement on the official website, the academy had this statement:

"Despite the fact that we are still in negotiations for a broadcast partner for the much-anticipated 36th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Ceremony, we are certain this years competition will be extraordinary and we thank you for being a part of it."

Daytime Emmy Update

Soap Opera Digest.com is reporting that there will be a daytime emmy broadcast.

"There will definitely be a broadcast and it will be a cool event!" confirms an insider. The nominations will be announced for the 36th Annual Daytime Emmy awards in late April. The broadcast is slated for early June. No word on where the ceremony will be held as well. For the last three years the event has been held at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.
